I purchased “Jazz Band” almost immediately upon laying my eyes on it, – knowing that it would absolutely become the highlight piece of artwork displayed in “the music room” of my home. The piece is magnificent and exquisitely done. Randy Maultasch brings to life an actual photograph taken at The Open Door Jazz Club, New York City, back in 1953. Randy takes Glass Art to a whole new level, – concentrating not only on what will eventually become the subject matter of each piece, – but making sure that each piece of glass is hand-picked and meticulously placed in concert with every other piece of glass in the panel. I feel honored to own one of Mr. Maultasch’s first commercially sold pieces. I not only enjoy the sheer beauty and explosive energy of this panel, but knowing that some of the glass is no longer available and completely unique in its design is quite special for me. I love music, – I love jazz, – and this piece of artwork is an incredible accomplishment by a true master in the craft of stained glass.
